In the late eighteenth century, the contents of Paris's cemeteries were transferred to a former quarry outside the city. The underground site was originally a disorganised bone repository holding the remains of more than six million people. The catacombs were later transformed into a visitable mausoleum, where skulls and femurs were stacked into walls. With skulls placed side by side, our sterling silver ring perfectly reflects the haunting images of Paris's catacombs.
